Can AI-Generated Audio Be Detected? Methods and Approaches for Identifying Authenticity
With the rapid advancements of Artificial intelligence, it is now possible to create more realistic and sophisticated AI-generated audio. This progress has raised important questions: Is it possible to accurately tell the difference between a real voice recording — generated by a human, and a voice recording created by artificial intelligence? And more importantly, how can we verify the credibility of an audio, what ways or techniques exist which can help in making such a distinction between a manufactured sound and a real sound?
In this article, I will delve into the multitude of factors and issues that connect with the determination whether or not an audio file is AI generated. Turning to voice synthesis technologies and voice cloning techniques expands the scope of the problem, but this task is still doable.
1. Spectral and Acoustic Analysis
One of basic means that allows us to say if an audio sample is original and if it has been synthesized using a computer program is the sound spectral analysis and acoustic analysis. The audio waveforms of the artificially generated speech, especially older ones, often show slight imperfections not found in natural speech. Such imperfections are visible in a spectrogram, which is a…
