Neural Headphones and Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs): Present and Future, Potential, and Risks
Even though it is difficult to imagine how interactive computing may work, there are new received headsets and brain-computer interface innovations. These will change the way an individual relates with technology, for example, an individual will use computers, devices, and even houses controlled with the mind. As much as this future seems to be appealing, it has certain issues with regard to what these technologies are and poses risks especially the one associated with the brain.
The Promise of BCIs: A Seamless Future
The potential of BCIs is that they could do away with the need for inputs such as keyboards, touch screens and even voice prompts. Picture a scenario where one can send a text message, type a document, or even drive a car, just by using their brain. This could change the whole dynamic in sectors like medicine where a person with such disabilities could use the devices and therefore, regain some level of functionality.
For a moment, BCIs are already applied in neuroprosthesis when a man with body limitations genially operates a robotic limb with his brain. Should BCIs be introduced in everyday life, it would imply that it is common for people to use neural headsets to operate personal…
