As I continue my studies in advanced computer science, particularly in artificial intelligence, one basic limitation draws my attention every time: inability of AI to perceive time. I mean, an AI can study huge amounts of information or analyze trends and even make forecast, However, it does not have the capacity to iluminate time like the way human beings do. This temporal blindness has its own peculiar issues especially in trying to project occurrences in a manner that is commensurate with the existing level of sophistication of actual timelines.
Time as a Fabric Polymer
For most of us, time is an ongoing continuum within which memories as well as other events and the expectations of what is to come reside. In this regard, existence is governed by the ticking clock, which indicates that the past present and the future are three different times that affect what we feel or do in certain moments of our existence. AIs, however, do not experience time. They do not perceive the sequence of operations as linear but rather consider each data point in isolation.
